(II) Our Mission

Part 1
What does the group need to accomplish at the end of the workshop?
The group needs to complete the objectives found in the manual and learn not just about these topics but more than necessary as these professors have a wealth of knowledge that we can tap on and which average people would not have.

Part 2 (i)
Questions from Project Manual

1. What colours do you see in the stained tissue?

We can see 2 main colours - Light Pink and Black. Light pink is cytoplasm while black is nucleus. When there are multiple layers of cells, the light pink would appear as purple.

2. Describe the appearance of the tissue in terms of shape of cells and how they are arranged. You can also make a drawing too.

The tissue is made up of multiple layers of cells which are compacted. They are arranged like bricks which are mostly uniform and have gaps to allow blood capillaries to transport what is required to them.

Part 2(ii)
Questions from Project Manual

1. What colour(s) do you observe?

We can observe 2 main colours, dark brown and light brown.

2. What does the colour(s) indicate?

Dark brown indicates that there is high levels of vimentin and most likely is cancerous. Light brown is cells which have normal levels of vimentin and most likely is not cancerous.

Part 2 (iii)
Questions from Project Manual
1 What colour do you observe in the stained tissue?

We can observe 2 main colours, blue and black.

2. What organelle does the colour indicate?

Blue indicates the organelle nucleus and most specifically is DNA that is found in nucleus. Black is the background.

3. Why is there a black background?

There is a back background due to no lighting so that we can see the fluorescence as white light and fluorescence look very similar so we require something more contrasting like black.
